Project Details   
Design and build project to convert a former Ambulance station in to a meat plant

Phase 1;    To convert and extend the existing garage area to create a self contained production facility to meet current Food Standards Agency and E.E.C. requirements.

Within the existing structure, new carcass chillers, boning / cutting areas, packing areas, boxed chilled storage, blast freezing and cold storage areas were constructed.

The existing offices and amenities were modified to provide locker rooms, sanitary conveniences and hygiene lobbies for the plant staff.

Phase 2;   

The existing structure was extended to encompass new loading bays, carcass chills, cold store, wash bay and bone skip areas.

To comply with current LPC requirements, mineral wool insulation was used to all areas, with exception of the cold stores and blast freezers where polyurethane was utilised.

Phase 3;   Stainless steel drainage systems were incorporated within all areas, with specialist floor finishes laid to falls.


An extruded aluminium “Bi-rail” meat rail system, complete with all necessary galvanised support steelwork, was specifically designed and installed within the plant

Phase 4;      The full mechanical and electrical installations were undertaken, with works including refrigeration systems to all areas, lighting and power, compressed air facilities, hot water generation systems, cold water storage and wash down facilities.


Externally, car parking, vehicle washing areas, forecourts, and security fencing to the full site perimeter was provided.
