Replacement
of roof insulation and weather proof membrane to existing cold store facility.
Construction of new refrigeration plant room structure. Erection of 4 hour internal
fire walls between cold storage and production areas. |

The
existing cold store was erected in 1974 and is one of four existing cold stores
on the Scarborough Site. Due to its age and the prevailing weather conditions
the existing roof membrane system had deteriorated over a number of years. This
in turn had led to the break down of the existing insulation. Wide scale ingress
of moisture then lead to high levels of ice build up within the roof fabric.
It had been estimated that there was as much as 240 tones of ice within the
roof alone. |

A
composite panel replacement was proposed for the new roof construction, complete
with a mechanically fixed PVC roof membrane system to cover the roof area, 60m
x 36m. |

The
existing refrigeration valve station to Store 4, was located on the roof of
store 1. This was rebuilt around the refrigeration pipe work with no loss of
production. |

As
required by McCain's insurance companies, a 4 hour fire wall system was erected
within the cold store, separating the storage and production area's. The fire
wall 72m long and 10m high was erected whilst the cold store was in full operation
at -25 deg.C. |
